2. What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to personal data collected when you take the SAFETY Assessment on our website. It explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have — including your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) if you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom.
3. What Data We Collect
3.1 Assessment Responses
Your answers to all assessment items, including the context selector (which area of life you chose to focus on) and all item-level responses across the six SAFETY trigger domains: Security, Autonomy, Fairness, Esteem, Trust, and Your Why.
3.2 Computed Scores
The scored output of your responses: trigger intensity scores, profile classification, quadrant placements (for Esteem and Your Why), Fairness type, and learning preference signal. These are derived automatically from your answers.
3.3 Demographics
Basic demographic information you voluntarily provide as part of the assessment (for example, age range, relationship status, or professional context). These fields are used solely to support aggregate analysis and are never used to identify you individually.
3.4 Email Address
Your email address, which you provide after completing the assessment in order to receive your report. Providing your email is required to receive the report. You may also separately opt in to receive follow-up content from us — that opt-in is voluntary and independent of receiving the report.
3.5 Technical Data
Basic information generated automatically by your use of the site, including assessment completion events and report delivery confirmation. We do not collect device fingerprints or persistent tracking identifiers beyond what is necessary for report delivery.
4. Age Restriction
The SAFETY Assessment is intended primarily for adults aged 18 and older. Respondents under 18 may participate with parental permission. We will not use data from any respondent who indicates they are under 18 in any form — including aggregate analysis, norm development, or published research. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 18 without parental permission, we will delete it promptly.
5. How We Use Your Data
5.1 Delivering Your Report
Purpose: To generate and deliver your personalized SAFETY Assessment report.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest. You came to us for a report; delivering it is the core transaction.
5.2 Sending Your Report by Email
Purpose: To email your report to the address you provided.
Legal basis: Consent. By entering your email address and requesting the report, you consent to receiving it at that address.
5.3 Optional Marketing Communications
Purpose: If you separately opt in, to send you follow-up content related to The Alignment Quotient books, the AQ course, and related material.
Legal basis: Consent. This opt-in is separate from, and not required for, receiving your report. You may withdraw this consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at TheAlignmentQuotient@gmail.com.
5.4 Aggregate Research, Norm Development, and Publication
Purpose: To analyze patterns across respondents in order to develop population norms for the SAFETY Assessment, improve the assessment's validity, inform product development, and publish findings.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest. This research is conducted exclusively on anonymized and aggregated data. We do not look at or analyze individual named records for research purposes. Published results will never identify any individual respondent.
Specifically:
- All analysis is performed on aggregated, de-identified datasets.
- No individual's name or email address is linked to any research output.
- Data from respondents who indicate they are under 18 is excluded from all research.
- Published findings present only group-level statistics and never individual profiles.
6. What We Do Not Do
We do not:
- Sell, rent, license, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
- Use your name or email address in any research output or publication.
- Look at individual respondent records for research — only aggregate, anonymized data is analyzed.
- Build behavioral profiles for advertising targeting.
- Use automated decision-making or profiling in ways that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
7. Data Retention
We retain your full assessment record (item-level responses, computed scores, demographics, and email) for as long as reasonably necessary to support ongoing norm development and assessment validation. If you request deletion of your record, we will remove your data within 30 days (see Section 9).
8. Hosting and Data Storage
The SAFETY Assessment is hosted on Hostinger, whose servers for this account are located in the United States. If you are accessing the assessment from the EEA or the United Kingdom, your personal data will be transferred to and stored in the United States. The legal basis for this transfer is the Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated into Hostinger's Data Processing Agreement. You can review Hostinger's data processing terms at hostinger.com/privacy-policy.
We do not transfer your data to any other third-country recipients. We do not currently use a third-party email automation platform.
9. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the EEA or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your personal data within 30 days.
- Right to restriction — ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including use of your data for aggregate research.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
We will respond to any request within one calendar month.
10. How to Exercise Your Rights
Email us at TheAlignmentQuotient@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and a brief description of your request. We will acknowledge within five business days and complete within 30 days.
If you believe we have not handled your data in accordance with applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the EU: edpb.europa.eu. In the UK: ico.org.uk.
11. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses basic cookies for session management (to maintain your assessment state as you move through the instrument) and internal conversion tracking. We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with third-party advertising networks.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you by email if we hold your address.
